Brian Feldman, who is Senior Counsel to the Firm, focuses his practice on tax disputes and tax litigation.  He has extensive litigation experience in the federal tax arena, and has tried jury and non-jury cases in federal courts.

Before becoming Senior Counsel to the Firm, Brian was a Senior Trial Attorney in the United States Department of Justice, Tax Division, where he was lead counsel for many of the Tax Division’s most complex, large dollar cases.  While with the Department of Justice, Brian was a 3-time recipient of the Tax Division’s Outstanding Attorney Award.  He also served as a Reviewer where he supervised the litigation work of approximately 30 other trial attorneys.  Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Brian worked as an Attorney/Certified Public Accountant for Price Waterhouse in Washington, D.C.

Brian was elected in 2002 to serve in the Maryland House of Delegates and was re-elected in 2006 and 2010.  In September 2013, Brian was appointed to the Maryland State Senate to fill a seat vacated by the incumbent Senator.  In November 2014, he was elected to a full 4-year Senate term.  In the Senate, Brian serves on the Senate Finance Committee.

Brian received his B.S. degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University, his J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and M.A. from Johns Hopkins University.  He is licensed in the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Maryland and is admitted to appear before the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
