Ms. Ggoch-Saem “Sammy” Kim is an Associate Attorney at Kundra & Associates, P.C. At Kundra & Associates, Sammy’s practice focuses on domestic and international tax controversy and compliance matters. Prior to joining Kundra, Sammy served as a judicial extern to Chief Special Trial Judge Peter J. Panuthos in the United States Tax Court. She also has experience advising clients on tax matters affecting immigrants and undocumented workers. She received her LL.M. in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center, where she focused on litigation of individual income tax issues and U.S. taxation of international transactions. She received her J.D. (Cum Laude) from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, where she was a Senior Editor of the Law Review.

Sammy also has extensive knowledge on immigration consequences of tax disputes and criminal convictions from working for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Office of Immigration Litigation under the Civil Division of the Department of Justice. She had experience advocating undocumented immigrants with tax issues before the District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue.

While at the United States Tax Court, some of Sammy’s written work relating to the issues of filing status, dependency exemption deductions, earned income credit and child tax credits was quoted by Forbes. Prior to law school, she worked for the Embassy of the Republic of Korea for a number of years. Sammy also holds a M.B.A. degree from the University of California at Riverside and a B.S. in physics from Ewha Womans University, Seoul.

Sammy is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and before the United States Tax Court. She is also a member of the District of Columbia Bar Sections of Taxation as well as Litigation.
